Obituary of Rose Wegenast
Rose Wegenast was born to John and Katherine Pipke on September 2, 1928 in Holden, Alberta and she passed away in the Killam Health Care Centre on May 6, 2013 at the age of 84 years.
On November 14th of 1948 Rose married Reinhold Wegenast of Galahad. They raised their family on their farm south of Killam. After retiring to Killam in 1989 Rose and Reinhold enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Rose was proud of her family and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a person of deep faith and her church community was of great importance to her. Her faith in God helped her through her many health struggles.
After the passing of Reinhold in 2010, Rose moved from Killam to the Flagstaff Lodge in Sedgewick where she resided until her passing. She always looked forward to family gatherings and visits from family and friends. We were all blessed to be loved by one who touched our lives in such a special way.
Rose is survived by four loving daughters, Linda (Wayne) Lindseth, Kathy (Gordie) Lewis, Diane (Bill) McRae, Leona (Patrick) Jarmoluk; eight grandchildren, Steven, Tony, Bob, Jill, Becky, Kirsten, Jessica and Michael; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Parker, Hanna, Spencer, Tanner, Makenna, Mya; three sisters, Clara Wegenast, Katherine Dargatz, and Olga Hurum; one brother Bill Pipke; and one brother-in-law Norman Wegenast. She was predeceased by her husband Reinhold on September 27, 2010. Her family will always remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, oma, and sister. She will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and with us always.
Our family wishes to express our gratitude to Dr. Hanton and all of the wonderful staff at the Killam Health Care Centre and the staff and homecare providers at the Flagstaff lodge for the excellent care given to our Mom. Thank you to all of our friends and relatives for the visits, phone calls, food and flowers. Special appreciation to pastor David Tonner at the Killam Baptist Church for your prayers and words of great comfort.
To honour Mom's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at the Killam Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Killam Cemetery, Canadian Diabetes Association, Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
