Dear Mrs. Stang, Trent, Jodi and Kim,
What can I say about the greatest teacher I've ever had? I got to know Mr. Stang possibly more than any other student, due to my knack for landing in detention nearly every single day of the year. Each day I would sit in that classroom after everyone had left, and I would spend time with Mr. Stang. It was supposed to be a "punishment" but it was more like a reward. Part of me thinks that I subconsciously wanted to be in detention every day so I can hang out with this marvel of a man. He taught me how to think critically, how to speak publicly, and how to write- something that has shaped my entire career. The only thing he wasn't able to teach me was how to stop interrupting him during class- but of course I had to find a way to land in detention.
I'll always hold such fond memories of my beloved Mr. Stang, and I know he's in a better place. My deepest condolences go out to all of you, for I know his physical presence will be deeply missed.
Much love to you all,
Ziad Masri

Dear Carole, Jodi, Trent and Kim,
I knew your father as “Mr. Stang”, my beloved teacher and principal at OLOF, as a little Lebanese immigrant kiddo, learning the ropes as one day at a time. Mr. Stang was everything I needed him to be and more—not only did he encourage me to read, read, read, but also literally taught me to spell and write, showed me how to take meticulous notes and proofread, taught me to recite poetry, introduced me to Patsy Cline and her weeping willow, gave me advice about combating bullying, and most movingly, sat and talked to me for hours before and after school, learning about my inner world and nurturing my soul. I reconnected with him when I was an undergrad in Lebanon, where I learned that he also shared an interest in psychology and literature—what I intuitively gravitated toward, in no small part because of your father’s attunement, generosity of spirit, and undying support. I say this without a hint of hyperbole: I wouldn’t the professor or psychologist I am today without him. Our home remembers him often, with love and with such joy. I will be forever grateful for the impact he had on my life and that of my extended family. He will be sorely missed, but his beautiful mark on the world will live on. Sending you all love and wishes for healing in the midst of your loss. With love, Lara (Masri) Sheehi

Dear Mrs Stang, Trent, Jodi, Kim and family;
My deepest condolences go out to you and your family’s for the loss of Mr Stang. Mr Stang was an incredible person, teach and so much more. I will never forget how he shaped my life. He put in so much effort with me when I first joined OLOF, he taught me how to read, write, speak English, ride a bike, catch a ball, play bones..... the list is endless. I really can’t say enough about how influential he was, Often in courses or job related things, I’m asked to name a hero or a person that stands out in having made a difference in my life, and every time it’s Mr. Stang. May his soul rest in peace.
Love Nour

Carole, Trent, Jodi & Kim,
I was saddened to hear of Bill’s passing!
He was a great guy who I enjoyed and greatly respected during my time at Our Lady of Fatima School, now many years ago! He was a great mentor for a young teacher. I learned a lot from Bill, wisdoms that served me well throughout my teaching career and also in my life.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time made ever more difficult by these special Covid 19 times!

With deepest sympathy I express my condolences to the entire Stang family. Bill provided many entertaining memories I am sure, if my memories of childhood visits are any indication. To be loved and cherished is to have lived well. Hugs.

Our condolences, Carol to you and your family, on Bill's passing. When Hardisty Church closed and Killam Church became our church, Bill was the first to offer his sympathy on our loss. He also assured me that if I was unable to meet my commitment as reader, just to give him a call and he would be willing to fill in for me.He was a kind man and his passing will leave a void. May happy memories help with your loss. Ron and Marie Mazure
