Obituary of Maurice Manning
On May 5, 2020, Maurice Allen Manning, age 84 of Hardisty, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. His wife Kathleen and his daughters were by his side.
Maurice lived his entire life in the Rosyth community. He went to school in Rosyth, Hardisty, and finished high school in Hughenden. It was here he met his sweetheart and future wife, Kathleen Otto.
Maurice grain farmed with his dad and brother Ralph, and raised Angus Cattle. He also worked for the Provost School Division as a school bus driver, starting at age 18 and continuing to drive for a total of 58 years. Maurice also operated the Rosyth UFA farm store from the family farm. He always loved the farm and farm life. He was a good neighbor and friend, always willing to lend a hand when needed. Maurice always had chickens and laying hens and became quite a good source of information when the kids and grandchildren decided to carry on the tradition. He really disliked cleaning the chicken house, especially in the winter. His hobbies included fishing, camping, gardening, and bingo.
Maurice will be deeply missed but forever loved by his wife of nearly 62 years Kathleen.
He was so excited and proud to be great-grandpa to Berlyn and Atley Lakevold, Ayden, and Austin Armitage and Patrick Moser. The love of these great-grandkids was only matched by his love and pride he felt for his grandchildren, Mandy (Cody) Lakevold, Patricia (John) Armitage, Blake (Kelsey) Moser.
He was an amazing, encouraging, and supportive Dad to Laura (Len) Johnson, Loretta ( Ken Mehalcheon), and Lynn (Todd) Moser.
Maurice was also predeceased by his brother Ralph and his sister Helen, and his parents Paulette and Eddie.
Cremation has taken place. No funeral service will be held. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
If one desires and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the MS Society, the CT Scanner Fundraising Project in Wainwright or a charity of one's choice would be graciously accepted in his memory.
