Obituary of Yvonne Rawluk
Yvonne Rosemary Rawluk was born on March 27, 1931 in Viking, Alberta; and passed away on Jan 21, 2020 at the age of 88 years. A fifth child for Arthur and Emily Carter, she grew up with her family on the farm SW of Jarrow.
In 1949, she married George Rawluk and together they moved to the Rawluk home place, where they eventually raised their family of 4 children.
Yvonne was a devoted farm wife, mother, and grandmother and a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and her quilts and needlepoint work is proudly displayed in many of her family’s homes. A curler, golfer and bowler, she also enjoyed watching the Oilers and Jays on TV. She loved her garden and took great pleasure in her flowers as well as the birds they attracted.
Yvonne’s faith was very important to her as a devoted member of the Anglican Church.
Yvonne is survived by her 4 children: Dennis (best friend Roger Villena) (Vancouver, BC), Linda (Tom Cookson) (Livelong, SK), Colleen (Alan Probst) (Macklin, SK), Ken (Darbi) (Lougheed, AB); 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Harold (Maxine) Carter and numerous nieces and nephews with their extended families. She was pre-deceased by her husband George in 1982, by her sisters Muriel, Audrey, Shirley, and Betty and their husbands, and by friend and companion Bill Pushie (Papa Bill).
Donations in memory of Yvonne may be made to the Jarrow Cemetery, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
A funeral service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, Sedgewick on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.
