Obituary of Irene Felzien

Irene was born to Ernest Wilhelm Fredrick Fischer and Adeline Theresa Choitz in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on June 17, 1925. Irene lived with her family on a farm near Luseland, Saskatchewan as the eldest of 6 children. After graduation from High School, she attended Three Hills Bible School in Alberta. She then went on a 10 year mission to Cuba with the West Indies Missionary Society. Upon returning home, she worked at the Calgary General Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the Medical Records Dept. On July 25, 1968, Irene married Willis Felzien. They moved to Willis's farm near Forestburg where they lived until 1976 and then moved to the home Willis built for them in Killam. Irene resided here until July of this year when she entered the Killam Health Care Centre, Palliative Care Unit. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 23, 2012. Irene was predeceased by Willis, Oct 28, 2001; her father Sept. 1982 and her mother Sept. 1973; her brother in law, Ken Knutson 1991; brothers Alfred Fischer 1993, and Vern Fischer 2002; great nephew Anthony Fischer 2004; niece Donna Neinabor 2005; and nephew Alan Fischer 2008. Left to cherish her memory are family members: brother's Gerhardt (Julie) Fischer and Bill (Darlene) Fischer; sister Doreen; sisters-in-law Cathy and Arleen. Willis's surviving family members; Irvin (Charlotte), Warren (Treva), Ernie (Barbara), Vera (Vern), and Janice. Irene and Willis's "adopted" family: Daryl and Judy Larson and their family; Neil (Everly) Larson, Kobie, Kenzy, Kynlee; Becky (Jeff) McClements, Allie and Lexie; Megan (Ryan) Paterson, Kherington and Sydney; Lana (Tanner) DeLorey. Irene also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a large host of friends all of which will miss her dearly but are praising her presence with the Lord. Irene's kindness, compassion and prayerful spirit will live on in our memories. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th at the Sedgewick Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Nolan Haring officiating. Memorial donations in memory of Irene may be made to the Sedgewick Church of the Nazarene, the Pleasington Church Cemetery or the charity of one's choice.
