Obituary of Louis Swanson
Louis Murray Swanson was born November 30, 1928, on the family farm, at Lougheed, Alberta. He passed away in the Daysland Hospital on December 1, 2016, at the age of 88 years.
Louis married Doris Sutter on March 10, 1967, and opened his arms to a ready-made family, Garry, Kathy, and Allan. Louis farmed for 68 years in the Lougheed area. He was very active in the Church of the Nazarene, first at Lougheed and then with the move to Sedgewick. He held many positions within the Church and was the Head of the Building Committee for the new church in Sedgewick.
Louis and Doris moved to Providence Place in October of 2013. Once he retired, his favorite activities were the coffee shop, auction sales, and PIE!!
Louis is survived by his wife Doris of 49 plus years and his children, Garry (Sheila), and their children, Clint (Shawna), Derek (Char) and Bryce (Morwenna); Kathy (Tony Ellis) and their children, Kelly, Theresa (Chris Halliwell) and Lee (Daniela); Allan (Connie) and their children, Carrie (Todd Carriere), Curtis (Anjuli) and also enjoyed 19 great grandchildren, his sister Eileen Swindells and nephew Bradley, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, John and Jessie Swanson and his brother-in-law, John Swindells.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and willingness to help those in need. Louis will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th at the Sedgewick Church of the Nazarene. Memorial donations in memory of Louis may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Daysland Hospital Foundation or to Providence Place.
