Obituary of Elsie Rancier
Elsie Wilson was born February 13, 1928. She passed away September 29, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Edmonton with her devoted family at her side. Throughout her life, Elsie was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Her infectious smile lit up any room she entered and drew many people to her. She was always willing to talk and share her words of encouragement and wisdom with them. Elsie will be forever missed and thought of fondly by all who knew her.
Elsie married Gordon Rancier on August 17, 1949. They had four children during their 66 years of marriage. Frances now lives in Pasadena, CA (husband Jerry, daughter Terri); Linda in Edmonton (sons Ryan and Darren); Douglas in Calgary (wife Kam); and Heather in Calgary (husband Todd).
Elsie and Gordon’s children and grandchildren have been and are their pride and joy. They brought peace and comfort to Elsie in her final days. Her doctors and medical support staff also deserve much credit for their thoughtful advice and care.
Elsie requested that cremation take place and her ashes be spread on crocus hill at the family farm (Fred’s farm). After spreading her ashes at the farm, close friends and family will return to Killam for fellowship remembrances and lunch. Please feel welcome to join us on May 8th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Killam Senior Centre for fellowship and refreshments. Remaining ashes will be interred in the Killam Columbarium (Killam Cemetery).
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in memory of Elsie Rancier to the Alberta Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
