Obituary of Hazel Alice Kelly

Hazel Alice Kelly was born to Albert and Hilda Anderson on December 20, 1923 at Lougheed, Alberta and passed away on January 16, 2016 in the Killam Health Care Centre at the age of 92 years. Hazel went to Park Hill School until grade nine, by walking or riding a horse across country to the one room school house. After grade nine she worked in the cook car preparing meals for her father's threshing crew that did custom work in the area. She also worked at the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton and then moved to Sedgewick to work at the telephone office. On July 19, 1945 she married LeRoy Kelly. After LeRoy's discharge from the U.S. Army they farmed in South Dakota. In 1953 they moved back to their farm east of Lougheed. Hazel enjoyed the farm life, growing flowers, a large garden, raising chickens and milking cows. In her retirement years she enjoyed camping, trips to Hawaii and spending time with family. She is survived by her son Clifford Kelly and his wife, Gwen; her daughter Loretta and her husband, Ken Oliver; eight grand children, Melinda (Brain) McClements, Susan (John) Kelndorfer, Tracy Kelly (Greg Hay), Caryn (Andy) Clark, Crystal Kelly (Chase Hepworth), Denise Oliver (Cody Babchuk), Sheldon (Tanis) Oliver, Angela (Robert) Carmichael; fourteen greatgrandchildren, Regan, Tristan and Jace McClements, Rylan and Jayla Kelndorfer, Alexander, Parker and Maverick Clark, Greyson Hay, Haley Burns, Karsen Oliver, Robert, Olivia, and Ireland Carmichael. Hazel was predeceased by her husband LeRoy on June 18, 2008; an infant daughter Catherine; her parents Albert and Hilda Anderson; one brother Albert Anderson and two sisters Isabel Johnson and Ellen Anderson.
