Obituary of Martin Morphy
Willis was born at Aylesbury, Saskatchewan on May 19, 1927, the 8th son of Benjamin and Ruth Morphy. Willis passed away in the Killam Health Care Centre on May 3, 2012 at the age of 84 years.
Willis was proud to be the 8th son and especially proud that seven of his brothers were in the 1935-45 war. Carl, Basil, Harold, Charles and Vale were in the Air Force, and Victor and Neil were with Willis in the army for a total of eight brothers serving our country. He was discharged on September 28, 1945 and then served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from March 1951 to March 1961.
He is survived by one son Donald and one daughter Lorna; grandson Daryl, granddaughter Shannon and four great grandchildren; three brothers Carl, Harold and Dean; three sisters Sybil Clayton, Thelma Brown and Gwen Gerry (Ron); numerous nieces and nephews. Willis was predeceased by the love of his life Joyce Bamlett on December 17, 2001; five brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service was held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Sedgewick United Church with Reverend Randy Hedeman officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
