Obituary of June Crone

June was born on March 25, 1929 to Lonnie and Clara Wilder at Galahad, Alberta.  She passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, Alberta on May 10, 2024 at the age of 95.

June is survived by two daughters:  Sherry (Royce) Schmutz, Donna (Ken) Ettinger; 6 grandchildren: Steven (Sherri) Schmutz, Lorianne Schmutz, Jaylyn (Grant) Marchand, Ryan Schmutz, Jena (Jason) Wagmann, Kim Schmutz; 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  June was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Fred; her parents, Lonnie and Clara, and her brother Donald.

Second to her love of family, her volunteer work was her life.  June served on the Hospital Auxiliary, the Handi-Van Committee, and the Doctor Recruitment Board.  She was also instrumental in the formation of the Candy Stripers program.  June’s love of horses brought about being a 4H leader.  A hi-lite of her life was receiving the Governor General’s Award for Volunteerism.  Free time was spent boating, camping and with her horses.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2 pm at the Hardisty Community Hall.  Memorial Donations in memory of June may be made to Hardisty Hospital Auxiliary or a charity of the donor’s choice.
