Obituary of Pauline Sparrow
Pauline Stella was born to Paul and May Nahumko on February 3, 1941. She was raised in the city of Edmonton where she met her husband, to be, Art Sparrow.
Pauline’s parents would not allow her to be married until she reached her 18Th birthday and she was married a week following her 18th birthday. Although there were tumultuous years, the couple recently celebrated their 65 th Anniversary! They were also very proud of Art’s 47 years of sobriety!
To their union, two children were added; Donnie (Karen) and Deborah (Reutger Sinke) and they were further blessed with a grandson, Kyle, who had a special relationship with Gramma and called her often!
Both Pauline and Art worked at a variety of jobs. They started several businesses. They resided in a number of places; Edmonton, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Black Falls, Abbotsford, and at a number of Horse Racing facilities.
She, and Art, loved the horse community and were involved as owners and trainers. She loved the excitement of the track. In later years, she enjoyed the excitement of the “machines”! The couple has resided in their Daysland home for nearly 10 years.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents, her brother Chuck, her parents-in-laws (Don and Maudie Sparrow, and a special sister-in-law, Betty. Besides her immediate family, she leaves behind an extended family who will miss her greatly!
A private family service will be held to celebrate Pauline’s life. A small anonymous donation to a local Food Bank would be a lovely tribute to Pauline.
