Obituary of Thomas Smithson
Thomas Smithson was born to Thomas and Edith Smithson at Vancouver, British Columbia on June 28, 1926 and passed away at Killam, Alberta on May 17, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
Tom was a draftsman during the war and played the accordion for the troops. He met and married the love of his life, Marjorie on April 3, 1948. They relocated to Salmo, BC from 1951 - 1955. Tom started working for B.C. Tel at this time and retired in 1984 to the country life of Lougheed, Alberta.
He had a very active retirement as he learned about farming from the Kampen and Butcher families, was involved with the Anglican Church, Alberta Tourism,
council member and mayor of Lougheed, sold small grain bins called "Looney Bins", assisted with the publishing of The Beginners Bridge Book and enjoyed travelling to visit their children.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, his son Tom W. (Heather), grandson Tom J. (Katrina), granddaughter Katherine and great-grandson Tommy A. He was predeceased by his son Conrad.
