Rod was my favorite teacher while I was in high school, in grade 11 I asked if I could build a cedar strip canoe. He didn't put any limits on your learning he just said go ahead. When I got to grade 12 my first day in shop Rod came in and as soon as he saw me he said boy do I have a project for you. Then he went to his office and came out with some rolled up blue prints , he rolled out his plan for a 14 foot sailboat and asked if I would build it for him. I couldn't turn that offer down so I built it and when I was done we took it to sedgewick lake for a sail at lunch, he thought he was a good enough sailor to go out with his cowboy boots on and wallet in his pocket, well out him and Paul went turns out he wasn't good enough and in they went. He didn't just get me into building for a living ,he also made me a sailor, and I still do both to this day.I graduated in 1979 and may have only seen him around a couple times since, but he will still be missed and the world was a better place with a teacher like him in it. He named his boat Wild Fire like the horse in the song and I still can see him singing it. Fair seas and blue skies with a calm breeze at your back Rod.

Mrs. Doody & Family, I was fortunate enough to be taught by both of you and you both helped to shape me into the man I am today. I never saw Mr. Doody without a smile on his face. Even on the rare occasion when he did get angry at someone in his shop class he would turn and smile at the rest of his class. He was a very well respected teacher and a great man. He is someone who made a difference in a lot of lives. I am grateful for having the opportunity of knowing him and thankful for all that he taught me. He will be dearly missed by you all. My thoughts and sympathies are with you all during this sad time. Darren.

Dear Joanne and Family, My high school years were some of the best times in my life. What made them truly exceptional, were the folks who took the time to encourage me and to pass their words of wisdom on to me even outside of the classroom. A truly great and unforgettable man. Ken Powell

Mr Doody was one of those rare people who was truly born to teach. Long before we could see him....you would hear the click of his cowboy boots usually accompanied by a cheery whistle.
He always was genuinely interested in how you were & what your interests were. His classes were ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN and yet he still got us to learn and be productive. He was a Favorite Teacher among many of his Students.
Condolences to those who loved him

Dear Norma and family, Rod was such a good friend. He was a terrific teacher and mentor. You and Rod were so kind and supportive during my loss of Janis. We had such wonderful times together, especially in our retirement time in Arizona and Mexico. May you receive the same support and love that you offered me in my time of sorrow. We have all lost a wonderful man.

Dear Norma and family. So sad to hear of Rod' s passing. Janis and Manfred always spoke so highly of both of you. And you were such a support for Manfred and his family when Janis passed away. I'll never forget Rod coming to our rescue when the computer crashed as Janis' eulogy was being written. Hugs to all of you.

So sorry to hear of Rod's passing. He was such a mentor, both he and Norma especially to our kids, but a mentor for us too, leading the way for Mac computers when others feared to go. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.
